A marriage license obtained in South Carolina is valid for a marriage ceremony anywhere in the state. A Marriage license can be obtained from any county in South Carolina but marriage license from other states are not valid. Blood tests are not necessary.
Couples can secure an application at one location presently.
Couples also have the option of downloading an application and filling it out at their convenience. Applications must be on file at least 24 hours before a Marriage License can be issued. Individuals under the age of 18 must have certified copies of their birth certificates, as well as notarized statements of consent from a parent or legal guardian. Individuals over age 18 may use a driver’s license, voter registration card, birth certificate, or passport to verify age. If you’re thinking about a wedding on public property within the City of Myrtle Beach, here are some helpful details: The public beach — Commercially produced weddings are not permitted on the public beach. All other weddings are allowed on the public beach.
Private portions of the beach — Only a handful of oceanfront lots extend to the high tide line, and the city has no jurisdiction for either commercially produced or non-commercial weddings on those few lot extensions.
Public parks in commercial areas, by reservation — Weddings are permitted in public parks in the commercial areas of the city, with an approved Facility Use Permit. Insurance certification is not required if the Facility Use Permit is in the name of the bride or groom.
